Got a 3.70 in the '76 vette.... with an TH350... and yeah, its kinda on the high side of rpm's at 60 mph(around 2800rpm)....(4.10's in the 78...but got an overdrive 5 speed in it..
)

I have 3.73's in my 76 with a 396 from a 68 Chevelle SS 396. I now have a TH-400 in it. It is ok for around town but I've got a 700r4 being beefed and will be puting it in soon.

I ran a 3.73 in my 80 with a 700 R4 trans and I now have a Tremec 5 Speed. The 3.73 's worked Great with Both. At 6000 Rpm in 4th with the 700R4 trans the Car ran 168 MPH on Radar at the Nevada Sierra 100 and got off the Line Good To. The Tremec should be about the same. The 3,73 is just a good allround Gear for a Performace Street Car. Its the happy medium between either side. Richard....
My 2 cents,My 1980 had 373 with a 700R4 with a 383 and it was awsum, its the only way to go with those gears , lotsa luck

I've got 3.70s in the 79 with a TH350 also. Fun ride, little bit of a screamer on the highway...

My 78 L82 has 3.70's with the M21 4 speed. Takes off nice, but feels like you're flying at 60- 70, which is fast enough for me with a 29 year old car.
