Vette(s): "86", "89", and finally an "81" Red/Tan. I call her "Sweet Pea".
Good Mornin' Folks
I posted awhile back...discussing a "Scrscrscrscr" noise comming from the rear of my 81 Vette. It was suggested that my "short axel U-joints" were bad. Well...I had them replaced and it made no difference. It needed done none the less...the little shafts that the "cap" roller bearings set on (U-joint)were so bad that the bearings had cut long divits that you could easily feel. I've never seen the like before. Anyhoo...now he says (the tech)that my "spindle bearings" are bad. My question is...how much (if any) play should there be if you jack up the car and try to move the rear wheels. Up and down or side to side...
Also..do you have to use a special tool to replace the bearings??...
Thanks folks
Fred
