Does anyone have a trick to help loosen the rearend support bushings to allow the differential to drop.
I have removed half shaft, drive shaft, strut bars and leaf spring. The upper rubber mounts are stuck and will not move even with a long pry bar. This is a 1969 and is not willing to let go...any thoughts? |cussing|

If you're talking about the suspension crossmember, I can only tell you that my Haynes said to leave it in for matters concerning just the differential carrier and not the rear cover. I was only replacing the gasket and after trying to take just the cover off(figured not having to remove axles and driveshafts would be a lot easier) I gave up and followed the Haynes. Differential carrier came out with a bit of twisting and is in good shape. Not sure where the differences between a 69 and 75 are back there, but I also removed all of the spare tire carrier and that made a world of difference in space!

Thanks for your input,

I was able to remove the crossmember with a two jaw puller and 2 days of penetrating oil soaking. I am replacing the worn yokes to restore the camber adjustments. If anyone needs info about pulling the rear end let me know. |thumb|
