Vette(s): 1970 T-Top350/350hp numbers matching 4 speed. It's a mess and 1970 Convertible 4 speed.
I think my front seal on the rear end is leaking. Is it hard to replace that front seal. It looks like you just take off the drive shaft and pull the front seal?

It requires removing the driveshaft, and taking the pinion yoke off the diff. While it may sound fairly straightforward, it does require a bit of patience, and the pinion nut must be retorqued properly, or it will damage the pinion bearing.( $$$)
This is one that you might be better off taking to a 'Vette shop, unless you have the proper tools. A regular repair shop could do it, but they may stick it to you since it's a 'Vette. my 2c

Took the front seal off the white 79 today. Parts guy gave me the wrong replacement so be a couple days til it's back together. Removed the driveshaft of course and also the snubber bracket to get easier access. Marked the nut in relation to the pinion shaft and the yoke so it goes back together exactly. Had mama in the car standing on the brakes while I cranked the pinion nut with a breaker bar with a 3 foot pipe extension on the breaker. It's THAT tight. Needed my balancer puller to get the yoke off. Seal comes right off after all that. Put it all together reverse making sure the marks line up. Some guys will put sealant on the back of the washer. Did my black 79 20 years ago with no sealant and no leakage, tho. A lift is a definite must!   Mike
