Help !!!!!
I am trying to replace the rear wheel bearings on my 76 Vette, I have managed to remove the assembly from the trailing arm but how do I get the shaft out of the hub so that I can access the bearing (and replace them).
I have a puller on it, but it won't budge and in case i am doing it wrong I thought I would ask you experts
Thanks
Gary

I couldn't agree with Ron78 more. The bearings must be shimmed to very tight tolerances or they will fail in a very short time. If you really want to finish the job, there is good info in the GM service manual. You will need to get a dial indicator and having a setup tool (can be made from a worn out spindle) helps a lot.
EDIT: I think Bair's has a rebuild/exchange service available. Support our forum sponsors.

Guys thanks for the input so far, I do have a dial gauge and what I believe is the correct puller, but I need to know is it really not posible without and expensive press, I am quite a skilled mechanic but have never done this job before on a Vette I have done it on a Jaguar but that was using a hydraulic press in a good workshop.
So any further advice/help would be gratefully received

Here are a couple of articals on rebuilding the trailing arms and bearing replacement. I did mine and it wasn't to bad of a job. My old bearings were a slip fit so I did not have to press apart. The ideal end play of your new bearing set is .001" to .003". Hope these articals help.
