hecko everyone,
I have not been an active member as far as conversations or input goes, but for the last several years I cannot tell you how valuable the knowledge contained within C3vr has been for me (thanks everyone). I have been able to answer most of my questions through existing forums. Now I need to ask for some help:

I have already been through the differential, u-joints, brakes...I'm finally ready to install my Christmas present...a new clutch. The reason for getting into the clutch is because of the terrible noise the throw-out bearing made one morning when the temp was in the 20's. Sure enough it will barely spin by hand...hence my fork is worn down and needs replacing too.

Question, I have the Borg-Warner 4 spd (1976 with ~ 50,000) and it has shifted well since I have had it except once in a while 2nd gear crashes (I believe it could be due to the amount of adjustment I had done because of the worn fork?)

Anyway, I have seen Joels pictures of the worn syncronizer and I believe my issue can also be a worn/trashed 2nd sync. I was bummed to find Ecklars only had the kit and video for the Muncie and not the Borg-Warner. I need to replace the seals / gaskets anyway but would like to know if there is a manual / video for my transmission to get me through it?

Thanks,
Mark
PS (Joel, I live in Frsco and would like to buy you dinner or lunch sometime).

Mark,

I have the muncie, but was experiencing similar problems, hard shifts, kicking out of gear, that kind of stuff.  I took it to a shop and had it overhauled.  I thought that I could do this myself, but the amount of work and experience in the area helped me to decide to pay someone.  You may be surprised what you can find.  I was only charged $175 for labor.  It came back with a like new appearance.  They replaced all the seals, bushings, bearings, countershaft, synchros and the two gears I had the most trouble with, 2d and 3d.  I could not be happier.  Parts and labor was only $700 bucks.  Good luck,

JR

The Muncie and the T10 transmissions are virtually the same on the inside. Even a couple of the gears are the same, as well as the synchro assembly for 3-4.
The factory service manual has the O/H info. And, of course, I'll be glad to help if you get in a pickle!

I need to do mine Joel but getting American Muncie parts in Australia is damn nigh impossible.  I've been to a few web sites which appear to have good reasonably priced parts.  They are always touting to use the Italian made gear sets. (I need a full set of gears as mine are all worn to some degree, especially the countershaft cluster)  My case is good and I have removed the antilash spring loaded plate on the front of the countershaft cluster, 'cause the rivets let go.

Should I be setting my shifter up with the linkages in the short shift holes?  (that's the holes on the shifter tabs closest to the shaft into the box)

P.S. Aussie Muncies (made for Holdens, 3 and 4 speed) have the shifter plate on the right of the box instead of the left)

The quick shift holes are fine...they do make the shifter "throw" a bit shorter, but it also makes it a little harder to shift in normal driving. If you "speed shift" a lot, then that's the position to be in. But...if you just drive normally(whatever that is!), then I would leave them in the longest holes.

Chips58, try this guy.

http://www.kajunjon.com

He has the Italian made gears as well as anything else you would need. I bought a bunch of parts for my 4 speed from him. Great guy and good advice.

Best of Luck.

When I rebuilt mine I use 5speed.com for parts. At the time that was the only place I could find online that had a complete kit. Had no problems getting the parts. Thumbs%20Up
