A few months ago VanSteel rebuilt my left rear bearing assembly because of a slight "ticking" noise was coming from the bearing area.  The car has only about 500 mileson it  since the repair.  But it has developed the same but stronger noise.  I first noticed it when making a right turn.  It has grown increasingly stronger and now makes the noise when going straight but it is louder when turning right as the weight is shifted to that side.  The U-joints are fairly new and this morning I removed the shaft and they seem to work smoothly.  But turning the wheel assembly works smoothly also.  And I feel no play in the spindle assembly.  Any tips on how to exactly know what is going on with this thing?

If it's a ticking noise I would guess it would be a spring rubbing on the parking brake. That's what I would check if it were me. One of these smart guys will jump in and help you out.

While no-one is perfect, VanSteel has an excellent reputation for doing the t-arms right. I'd have to agree with the others here...it may be an e-brake issue back there. Turning the car would cause some centrifical force to cause a loose spring/clip to rub on the brake area.

Can you put it up on a lift or jack stands and check underneath for the obvious?

Did that.  With alxe shaft, wheel and rotor off there was a discernable "tick" of a loose bearing roller when I slowly turned the shaft.  That was exactly the sound I had last November when I sent it off to Van Steel for repair.  Looks like it will be going back to them for a warrenty repair.
