To seal or not to seal

Vette(s): 1975 convertible,with the hard top and power streering.it a 350 L48 with auto trans. the color is light blue.
Momma has finally let me out of the house..YEA.I am going to change the universal joints on the drive shaft,I was told that I would have to change the seal on the tail stock of the transmission.Do I need to change it?

Only if it's leaking....if it is, then now would be the time to fix it. Of course, it could also go under the heading of Preventative Maintenance, so....
