You didn't mention if you have a manual or automatic. If automatic, you can remove the crossmember and lower the back of the transmission a bit. With a four speed, you can remove the transmission mount and gain a little extra room. You might do a little cosmetic damage to it, but I bet you can get it in.

Thanks for the info on the transmission insulation. I have a 4 speed manual and have it removed, so I have lots of room to work.
A couple of questions, how do you install the rivets for the clips?
Also what adhesive is used to install the foam seal between the bellhousing and the tunnel? Is the seal attached to bellhousing or to tunnel?
What is the proper location of the seal?

[/QUOTE] Spray contact adhesive...just spray on both sufaces...let it get tacky..apply the foam seal. It goes on the fiberglass tunnel as it starts at the firewall. As far as the rivets...that gets a bit tricky. You might consider an adhesive like RTV to fasten on the brackets if yours are gone. You can rivet with a regular rivet gun, but you need to back up the backside with a fender washer. corvette440hp
