I would like some advice on hooking up a trans cooler.I've been told that to get the maximum cooling results I should connect the cooler from the return side of the radiator. In other words the tranney fluid goes through the radiator first than to the cooler. Is this right? Which line would be the return line? |headscratch|

Yes it is correct. It's connected to the return line to further cool the fluid. The radiator cooler drops the temp some, the the aftermarket cooler drops the temp even further. If it was in the feed line the added cooler could cool the fluid, then due to engine coolant temp, the radiator could actually heat it back up a bit.

Almost forgot, the return line is usually higher on the radiator. By filling from the bottom, the cooler does not collect air pockets, purging air instead. Connect the line feeding your added cooler the same way, in down low, out at the top. If you want to comfirm the flow direction, disconnect a line and slightly crank, don't start, the engine. Fluid will come out of the supply line. Let me warn you, this can move a lot of fluid in a hurry and make a HUGE mess.

Many family members on my mother's side lived in Medina. Many years ago a large red farm house across from Freedom Field Airport sold Christman trees and shrubs. That was my Grand parents. See you in the spring.
