I have a little bit of information on decoding transmission numbers on the '70 Registry website. It's at the bottom of the chassis / photo library: http://corvetteforum.net/c3/1970registry/chasdetails.html

Sorry, not too much there as it's really hard to get folks to report transmission numbers since they're really hard to find - even with the car on a lift (esp TH400s). :) ~Juliet

The "Catalog of Corvette ID Numbers 1953-93" from Cars & Parts magizine has transmission ID codes for all 53-93 Vettes. If you know what year it's from, I'll be happy to look it up.

Vette(s): 1977 L-82, CLOSE RATIO SUPER T-10, A/C, ORIGINALLY BLACK BUT SOON TO BE BRIGHT SILVER.
PEOPLE OUT THERE PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN FINDING OUT WHAT TRANNY IS IN YOUR CAR!! IN MY 77, I HAVE A STOCK, CLOSE RATIO SUPER
T-10. BUT WHEN I PHONED A LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP TO DECODE MY VIN, THEY SAID I HAD AN M21. "BUT THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE" I SAID "THEY DIDN'T MAKE M21'S IN 77." BUT THE "PARTSMAN" |headscratch| CHECKED AGAIN AND SAID THAT IT WAS AN M21. SO TAKING HIS WORD FOR IT I PURCHASED SYNCHROS AND A SECOND GEAR. I FOUND OUT LATER THAT IN 77 CHEVY USED M21 AS THE OPTION CODE FOR THE CLOSE RATIO SUPER T-10. MAKE SURE THE INFO YOUR GETTING IS COMPLETE!

BUT THEN AGAIN, NO ONE TO BLAME BUT MYSELF FOR SECOND GUESSING MYSELF! |ick|

NOTHIN' BETTER THAN THE RUMBLE OF POWER WITH THE TOPS OFF AND THE SMELL OF BURNT RUBBER!!|COLOR=SILVER| |/COLOR|
