Hi,
I have just bought an '82 and I was cheated by it (im not a mechanic) and eventhough i took it to a mechanic he turned to be an idiot as it later seemed. anyway, my trans. is dying (reverses with scratching metal sounds) (and the gear has been flooded with water as a result of a leak). my engine is L98 as the VIN decoder told me and i dont know what transmission would probably fit the engine... i dont believe that the transmission is the original one...i have my doubts
could anyone tell me would a TH350 fit well or a TH700R?

THe correct engine RPO for an 82 is L83 cross fire injection. It should have 700-R4 tranny. On the pass. side of the block in front of the head is a pad with numbers stamped on it. You should have a V followed by four numbers then one of these letter combos. ZBA,ZBC or ZBN. The vin should also be stamped on the pad. Chuck

1995 Dark Red/Light Beige
Thanks for that info!

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.

Stick with a 700R4. The turbo 350 will eat gas like it is going out of style. It doesn't have O.D
