The way to go is the Richmond Gear 5-speed which is a direct bolt-in and comes with Hurst shifter

5th gear is 1:1 on the Richmond, which I strongly believe is the old Doug Nash unit. Both trannys were not overdrives. The first four gears are a little steeper for better acceleration. The 1:1 ratio was meant to retain the original fuel economy of the vehicle.
FYI, Richmond Gear bought out a couple companys awhile back, to include Borg Warner who made the T10 4 spd. My car has a Richmond Super T10 in it and it is identical to the B-W T10 I pulled out.
Hope this helps!

Everybody has their own opinion...but I think if you are going to go through the time, hassle, and expense of installing an aftermarket trans...you might as well install a overdrive. For $1,000 or so more you can have the ROD six. Or, you can do the Keisler 5. Either way, you have that highway gear.
Let me tell you from experience...the difference is night and day.
