Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!

Ray, your vibration still sounds like tires.  Not every one balances them quite right.  Most balancers have a round off mode.  Close enough for most, but not all.  You could also have a tire slightly out of round.

The newest balancers have a road force load compensation as well.  These do a fantastic job.  Any Chevrolet dealer should now have or will have the latest balancer.

Ken,

Would you suggest that I try a GM Dealer vs a tire dealer?.. I haven't had them balanced yet. Also will get alignment done, but  was going to a local tire dealer for both. If you think  a GM cert is a better choice that is good with me...

Thanks, guys. Y'all were right about the motor and tranny mounts. The right motor mount and the tranny mount were both shot. It was already off the rack by the time I got to it but the mech. said the drive shaft moved over a little. Hopefully enough to get tunnel insulation in. At least it shifts into first easily now.  Also, what would be a reasonable labor cost on replacing all six u-joints?

Reasonable for who? Our shop charges $78 hour! Did they/he give you a quote, or you just asking? Labor time(for all) would be in the area of 2.5/3 hours.

78 bucks an hour! YIKES!  I'm in the wrong business. I only charge $38 hr.  The local mech. that put my mounts in said he'd never done it before, (the half shafts) but didn't think it would be too much of a problem. He said probably around $125-$150. Sounds like a good price. Does this take any special skills if you have manuals? Not for me, for him.

Unis are easy they just take time.  Make sure to check diff yoke end play while the half shafts are off.  This can save money later.

Hey, Dwain, nice to finally see a pic of yer car!
The "end play" Chips is referring to is the play in the side yokes on the diff.(where the half-shafts attatch). Check the in/out movement of each of them. A small amount is OK, but I think the accepted measurement is around .010-.015".
It's hard(if not impossible) to get the half-shafts out with the car on a lift, or otherwise "in the air", unless it's on a drive-on lift. With the tires/suspension hanging, there will be pressure on the shafts. You may need to take the shafts off with the car on the ground, unless your mech. has a drive-on lift. You can raise the car, and take all of the attatching hardware off, and then lower it to the ground. The shafts will almost fall out on their own this way!

Hmmmm... You could actually get to the shafts on the ground to unbolt them? Then again, I guess you'd have to be able to do that if you unbolted them on a rack and dropped them out on the ground, huh? The only two racks in my community aren't drive on. The one shop that had one is closed now 'cause the kid went and got hisself blowed up welding on an oil field tank that someone forgot to ventilate. Landed about a hunnerd feet from the tank. Bummer. Good kid too. Anyway, I'll talk to you more Monday when I see you.
