Hello-
I have a few questions regarding transmission crossmembers:
1) Are the '80-'82 transmission xmembers different than '68-'79 xmembers. From what I have seen, the 68-79 xmembers have bolt on mounting brackets (where the trans actaully mounts) and the 80-82 xmembers have the brackets welded onto the main xmember. Is this accurate?
2) I realize that the 68-79 xmembers for automatic cars are bolt on's (at the frame) and that the 4-speed cars had weld on xmembers (welded to the frame). Is this the same for 80-82's?
Thanks in advance for your help.

The 80 and up may not have the hole on the left side for the dual exhaust. 79 and back does, even thought the factory dual went away in 75 when the cat converter was introduced. 74 and older exhaust will fit up to the 79 cross member. True dual exhaust for 80 and up requires special aftermarket pipes.
