Vette(s): 1980 corvette, very modified. Right hand drive done by myself.
I made the frame out of 10mmx3mm flat steel or 3/8x1/8 in usa terms, then layed fibreglass sheets over the frame and waited for it to half cure the moulded it by hand until I was happy with the shape, the same was done with the dash. A few went out the door (mistakes) before I was happy. Alot of cussing and pulpertations happened in the procedure to. |laugh|

I tig welded the frame, I have a workshop at home with all the gear. Work for myself as a contract maintenance fitter. I have some more photos to upload soon, some with the polished stainless inner gaurds I fabricated. |hammer|

My Vette died last nite(Sunday,for you Aussies into tomorrow already).I was headed downtown,somebody pulled out in front of me,I hit the brakes fairly hard,& it just quit.Tried starting it-nothing but cranking.Pushed it off the road into a gas station.Had to leave it overnight,much to my dismay(thought somebody might vadalize it),came back the next day(today-Monday),nothing but cranking. |smokin| Whats my problem?1)carb.,2)HEI coil,3)module,4)timing chain?????????

The same thing used to happen to my '70. It stalled so often after hitting the brakes that I had to start throwing it into neutral, brake with my left foot and give it a little gas with my right just to keep it running. Minor carb adjustments helped a little but it was in pretty bad shape. I did some engine work eventually and had the original Q-Jet rebuilt. Then a couple of months ago on the way to an early morning cruise it just went completely...float stuck, it was seeping gas all over the place and it wouldn't re-fire...had to push it back to my house at 6:00 AM. Rather then screw around with it anymore I just bought a direct replacement Holley with electric choke...great carb and no more issues. |toungecool|

Definately sounds like carby problems mate, what brand of carb is it? I ditched my Q-jet in favour of a Holley when I rebuilt my motor. |cheers|

That was the the leading suggestion-stuck float on carb(#1)-I was told to tap the side of it-,bad module on HEI was tied for 1st..Its the original Q-Jet.Just so happens I have a Holley 650cfm w/ electric ckoke and a Summit GM HEI distributor with 50,000v coil I was originally going to put on a 350 for the Camaro(sold!) |frown|
