Mine is black also, of course, my car is black as well. I have seen other 82s that were various colors and theirs was black as well.

That's exactly why I'm asking. Mine has also seen its share of parking blocks over the last 25 years and is looking pretty bad. It is painted silver (body color). Now I know the car has had a repaint, so I don't know if that's original or not. I recently saw a front-end shot of an '82 Collector Edition where that piece was painted gloss black, and it looked very nice. Got me thinking that maybe I could just clean it up and hit it with some Por-15.
