I have almost completed the engine rebuild. Everything is running well mechanically, but I can't get the guages to live. The fuel guage says 1/2 tank and I ran out of gas on test drive. Oil temp reads 300 when key is off, but returns to zero when key is on, oil pressure guage actually working correct. Tested is vs a manual guage. Alternator guage seems to be working correctly. Tachometer does not work.
All of these things worked before I did changed motor. Is there a ground wire I am missing any comments would be welcomed. Also, what is the tach filter.
thanks
Ed

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
Not a just one ground that I can see it would have to be a couple. I have an 82 and not sure what the differences in wiring would be. I'm betting not a lot.

Sounds like a ground issue.
Could be a gauge failure I had that with the fuel gauge. The fuel gauge has a dampening coil in it and that went bad but it could just as easily be the main coil and I do do not know what that would cause.
