Sounds like it's time for a new flasher.

As Mark said above, it's likely the flasher relay. Your 1972 Corvette has a replaceable turn signal flasher relay. It's located behind the passenger side dash panel, near the radio, and is secured by a clip. You can typically access it by reaching under the lower edge of the dash. The relay is an electrical component that controls the blinking of the turn signals and is designed to be replaceable.

You state the bulbs are good, but you dint say if(all of)) the signals actually worked. A bad ground could cause the bulbs to light, but they may be a little dim, and not flash properly. If all of the turn signals work properly, but just flash quicker than they should, then yes, it might be time to replace the flasher. Typically, if both sides have a speedy flash, it is a faulty flasher. Try it with the brake pressed, and see if that changes the speed....

There are a couple different flasher relays that fit these cars. I would check the relay 1st. There are very slow ones and medium speed ones and fast ones available at any parts store. Fairly cheap too. Find the speed that suits your liking, then simply change it. Very simple plug in, and done.
