Hello guys,

I am having a problem replacing the headlight door warning switched under the headlamp buckets. I am not sure of the exact angle the switches should be in to properly engage the small activation switch on the switch itself. (Make sense?).
I am being dumb here I know but my mechanics book doesn't help at all.
Thank you for any information you guys can give me.

Terry

The switches should only fit int he brackets one way....technically. There is a small slot in the bracket, and a small extrusion on the switch, so they fit together when you put the switch in the bracket. Be careful to not over tighten the nuts on them...the plastic switches will break pretty easily.
The may be some pics around here somewhere....lemmie look....

You can pretty well count on at least one of them breaking if you touch them, or in some cases, just LOOK at them....cheap crap. Sure wish someone would come out with a brass, or some other metal-cased switch, instead of the cheapo plastic ones....Censored

Aren't those the same switches used in the alarm system of the later cars that had the switch mounted forward of the driver's door?  My headlight switches still work, but the alarm one sure don't!!

Kinda, Dave. The same switches were used under the alarm key switch on the fender. In that location, they are used to sound the alarm if anyone removes the key switch while attempting to steal the car. The key switch can be popped out, but with this other switch mounted underneath it, if the key switch is removed, the contact on the "headlight open" switch will close, and sound the alarm.
There should be a small bracket that holds this switch up against the key switch, and one of the terminals on the key switch is "L" shaped, and it holds the contact pin down.
