Anyone have any idea where to find a wire harness for the 1971 seat belt warning light?  I find them for nearly everything else, including the 1972 ~ but not the 1971.  Is there a trick to this I just haven't figured out?

I have discovered the 1971 seat belt warning light, when push to turn off is pushed in, activates an electromagnet ~ very small one at that ~ to hold the contact OPEN until the car is turned off, then flips to the closed position so the light will come on when the car is turned on.  Never ever heard of one going bad, but did find a replacement.  This isn't on the 1972 or later models.

I just restored my '71.  The seat belt light is part of the dash harness.  You either need to replace the whole harness, or figure out what is wrong and rewire it.  There are good wiring diagrams available on this site.

I  appreciate your info.  But what I had fail for some reason was the little electromagnet on a quasi electronic board behind the dash panel. It holds the circuit OPEN when depressed, thereby keeping the light OFF.  When you turn the car off, the switch immediately CLOSES, allowing the light to come on when restarted.  This feature was only in one or two years models, 70/71, but not in later models.  Got the replacement part from a salvage yard which handles only corvettes in Florida.  Corvette Central put me onto them when I called them to see if they had anything which would work.  Never heard of this part failing.  This is a first.  Took me about two weeks to figure it out.

Again, thanks for your thoughtful input.
Harry
