So I have a '77 parts car that has the cruise control stalk on the column. I am thinking about swapping the column with the one in my '76. Especially since '76 came with the chia pet steering wheel that can only be replaced with an aftermarket wheel if you use an adapter that costs more than the new steering wheel. I was also going to rip out all the dash wiring that has been butchered over the years and replace it with new. My question is would I order a harness for a 76 and try to add in the extra for the cruise control or should I order a harness for a '77. My car has the security key in the fender and a/c but I didn't know how much of a difference the rest of the harness was from a '76-'77.

Not 100% sure, but if I were going to replace the harness anyway, I would go with one for an EARLY '77 w/cruize. I would suggest talking to the wiring manufacture and see what they have available, or if you would need a "custom" harness to make the swap.

I'm planning on ordering an updated a/c kit to replace my factory system. I'm guessing that the a/c wiring would be the same on both models but I wanted to ask just in case someone had some pearls of wisdom as to why I shouldn't. I would think the gauges would also be the same. A harness for a '77 with cruise was what I was looking at through several venders. Its just that when your $800 for some wires you want to know they will work without cutting or modifying. The wire harness costs almost as much as the whole a/c and heating system.

Well my '77 harness came in the other day. I also ordered a new cruise control harness for a '77. Next I guess I need the module thing. Then I have to figure out how and where this stuff mounts up. Unfortunately, the '77 parts car I have already had the motor pulled out. So I don't have anything to go off of. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated.

I can send you some info on the system. It doesn't tell you where all the parts go per se, but it might help figure out the wiring and such.

I have 79 CC parts in a box - servo, transducer, etc. If they are compatible, you can have them for the cost of the shipping.
