My 80 has set up for the last decade, and i need to know how to convert my wipers to a non-pulse delay type. I will probably need a new switch, motor, and relay, any help or comments welcome.

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.

Andrew,
First, why don't you want pulse wipers? I think the 80 model came standard with intermittant wipers. You would have to wire it like a 79 model w/o intermittant wipers. I'm not sure the 79 switch would fit in an 80 model.
From my manual, I think all you need is a new switch, and a different male, female connector, or just rewire it without the connector.
You will need a wiring diagram to do the rewire. e-mail me if you need the diagram
Did I confuse you enough?

Joe,
You and Andrew need to get together. You want to do the opposite of him..
It can be done, but it would be expensive!!!
OK! First, In 73 , intermittant wipers weren't available, as far as my manual shows.
I think you would need to get a 76 or later motor, Switch, Wiring harness, and washer motor. I'm not 100% sure of this though, someone else might have a different idea. I don't think it is worth all of the wiring changes, and expense.
The wires feed altogether different. I would pass on this , if I were you!!
If you want, I can send you the wiring diagrams too. You will need the 73, and 76-78,79-82 diagrams... I feel you would be wasting your time.. The pulse wipers are nice, but not worth this amount of trouble... Also the switch probably won't fit in the dash, where the 73 switch is...

thanks, blk79 I was just wondering if it was easy, not rewiring or any other crazy stuff. I didn't know if the switch would fit, either. I think I will have to pass on that one. Thanks again. Joe

I don't know, but maybe someone sells an aftermarket product for pulse wipers. You might get lucky, and find a cheap fix.
