The wiper motor will not stop running regardless of the switch setting. Everything was working just fine. The switch new and is OK. The motor is new and OK. I took the motor out and put in back in the park position and reinstalled the motor. Some of my wiring diagrams show a diode on the connector and some don’t. I don’t have a diode on mine. Anybody have an idea of why the wiper motor will not shut off?

Did this just happen, or did you replace the switch and motor to try to correct this?
The wiper motor works off of the ground, and has 12v power all the time with the key on. If it is running all the time, then it is grounded, either on the inside of the motor itself, or the wiring to/from the switch.

Joel, your on it.....last month a bud had a 1981 that the wiper would turn on by themselves, traced it down to a wire had been rubbing on a custom chrome housing over the dist. it had cut through the insulation and would short out. Fixed the wire and put some rubber trim on the chrome housing edge. All fixed Thumbs Up

Thanks Joel, it makes sense the problem might be a ground issue. I have the intermittent wiper switch and it did not work well but the wiper motor did start and stop properly with the switch. One day it just stopped working. I suspected the switch since the intermittent function had issues. I was lucky enough to find a parts dealer in Canada that had some. I replaced the switch and it didn’t fix the problem. After doing some more troubleshooting I suspected the wiper motor just would not go into the part position. I have seen this problem with other cars so I replaced the wiper motor and it did not fix the problem. I’ll have some garage time tomorrow to start looking at a ground issue.
