Vette(s): 69E Coupe Red/Black orig.# L-46 4-sp. Reworked with forged rods, 10:1 pistons, 3/4 cam, 2.02 fuelie heads, alum. intake, holley Q-Jet carb, roller tip rockers, alum water pump, alum radiator, Pertronix ignition, etc. New interior. A great driver.
I am hoping there is someone reaaly sharp about car wiring out there that can help me diagnose this problem.
The wiring in my 69 has been trouble free since I bought it 3 years ago. I have driven it many miles without problems in all conditions. Recently, as I apply the brake (with the lights off), the stop lights, the parking lights, and both turn signal indicators ( on the dash) will come on all together. Also, the turn signals have quit working regardless whether the lights are on or not. I know enough to guess there is a short somewhere
But am at a loss as to a starting point. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
c3

Make sure the hazard switch is all the way in. Check the hazards as well by pulling the switch and making sure the hazrds work as advertised. If they come on and stay on replace the flasher unit. Check your turnsignals the same way.
Once you have eliminated the switches and flashers, the most likely culprits a broken ground or shorted bulb element. Check all the light systems one at a time looking for odd behavior from one. Then look at the bulbs.
The wiring on these cars is pretty reliable as long as they have not been messed with. If your car has been modified in the lighting area then check there as well.
Hope this helps.

Thanks to alexnelsen and stingray jim for diagnosing this problem long distance (hard!), and for getting an electrical problem fixed the first go-around(lucky!).
I'm back on the road safely, and BOY do I appreciate my C3VR friends! Thanks,

Yeah, great bunch of people here! But, what was your problem and how did you have to fix it?

This was funny in a way AFTER the problem was solved.
The lights were doing wierd things like the four ways were coming on when I applied the brakes, and the turn signals quit working alltogether. Long story short, the sigal flasher button was pushed in by mistake. That flasher was inoperative, so no tip-off there. Simply pulling the button out restored the lights, but I needed help with the fix from c3vr members cause I was panicing over the fact that I suck at electrical problems!!
