Hi All,

I have been looking to repair my wipers on my 69, the yellow wire has power and when I put the wiper switch to low I hear the relay in the center console clicking but nothing going on with the wiper motor. and no click from the relay if i put the switch in high. Any one have an idea?

I did see that there is someone with a 72 with the same problem but I don't know if the system is the same?

thanks!!!!!!!

Pete Kennedy

Hi again,

update, checked the switch operataion at the wiper motor and on low speed both the LT Blue and the LT Green wire are both grounded and on high speed only one wire is grounded, this is the same as on my 1974.

could there be a switch or something on the wiper door on this 69 that is keeping the motor from working?

thanks again!!

Pete Kennedy

It could be the wiper door over-ride/safety switch. I wish I had a diagram for the early cars, but I don't. The motor should have 12v with the key on, and the switch supplies a ground for the different speeds. It sounds like you are getting a ground signal(s) from the switch. Maybe the motor is bad? Try tapping on it(wiper switch on) with a small hammer, or a screwdriver. If the motor kicks in then, you know it is bad. If there is 12v at the motor, and you're getting a ground from the switch, the motor is the last thing in line to fail.

Hi Alan,

A big THANKS!!!!

I think I may have fixed it but will put it together later to day and find out. The last owner had put the black wire coming out of the wiper motor to ground and not the red/white wire from the wiper door limit switch.
