I have been having problems with my trip odometer, I take the reset button off the bracket and seems to work, when I put it back on the bracket it works until I reset the trip and then stops working again. Any suggestions?

I am having exactly the same problem with my 74. We cannot be alone. Could be we will have to get up inside the dash to solve the problem.??

Seems to me that when the reset switch is put in the bracket the cable is bent at a hard angle, but that is the only way it will fit! Hopefully someone has a solution for us.

The reset on my trip meter hasn't worked since the day I bought "The Toy" and I haven't tackled tearing apart that side of the dash yet. Maybe this fall I'll get a chance to work on it. In the meantime I'll be checking this thread for tips on what to look for when I finally do tear into it.
Funny you should say that. My trip odometer reset hasn't worked since the day I got it either. I don't really know what to do to fix it. I'm a little scared about taking it apart. I just keep trying it. For years now, hoping one day I'll get in there and it'll work for some reason.

It sounds like a lot of us are having this problem, but no one wants to tear into that side of the dash. I am planning on taking the dash out next winter for some other repairs, like the clock and trip meter. I hope someone has some suggestions before I start.

I definitely have no suggestions for the clock. Mine hasn't worked since I got it. Its been the same time for years now. It would be nice to get it working again, just for the sake of it working.

My trip meter works but it won't reset ( so what good is it? ). The knob won't pull down or push up or even turn for that matter. Does anyone know if you pull down to reset or push up. maybe if I can get it into the correct position, it might start to work better.
