Just got the car- no manuals yet so bear with me
Headlights were working fine but wiper door wouldn't open
With engine running:
Learned about the manual over ride lever under the column
Tried wiper override - nothing happened
tried headlight over ride nothing happened
Raised hood and went into back of vacuum cylinder and pusd on the piston- wiper door opened - tried wiper switch and wipers operate at both speeds plus wash
Tried head lights - lights light but doors will not open
tried manual override but still doors wont open
What did I do where do I start
Thanks
Al

You need to take a vacuum reading from the intake manifold where the vacuum system ties in. Buy a vacuum guage and take a reading there. I believe it should be 12-15 (cant remember the initials here!) May be lower but whatever the reading is kepp track of it.
Then follow the lines down checking each connection for its reading. Should not drop more than 2-3 from the manifold reading.
Try to look for a diagram showing the system it will help greatly. You really should isolate just the wiper lines and check them on their own. Them do the headlight system.
There is a great manual you can get at:
www.madvet.com
it is called "Troubleshooting the headlight system..."
It will really help you understand the system. Good luck! It takes a long time but you will find the problem.
