Okay let me try this again.... Does the FM stereo convector mount in the same place as the mono convector behind the lower right dash pad???? thx

I am pulling out my original '73 mono Delco FM radio with its small convector amp and converting to the '73 Delco Stereo radio with its monstrous convector amp. Does the stereo amp/convector mount in the same place as the mono amp did???? If it doesn't mount there, where does it/did it mount? It seems wayyyyy too big for the spot where the mono convector was...thx

Dave, I know you've had this posted for a couple of days...I haven't even looked at it...sorry...
I'll check the assy. manual when I get home, as well as the service manuals, to see if they give any ideas. I have to think the parts would go in roughly the same area.

Thanks guys, great picture!....It looks as if that metal strap is missing on my car. I'll have to get that too!.. I actually may be in the same dilemma as the person that you helped in the first post. The amp that I have is like the one they guy had described from before...it is about twice the size as the one on the left.
Could it be they incorporated the 2 amps in later years??  It has to fit in there somewhere, there aren't too many alternatives!!!! thanks again

I think that metal strap was only used on Convertibles. Here is a picture of my U69 equiped AM/FM RADIO, well the radio pictured here is not the original but the wiring is.

Thanks Brian...

Yes, that's the same mono convector set up mine has. I installed the larger stereo amp in its place last night. It did (barely) fit behind the lower dash pad.

it seems that your 73 and mine had very similiar options....
