Any one have any tips for replacing a power window motor on a 77? Every book tells me to run the window up to remove the sash bolts but the motor is dead, how do you run it this way? Any help would be greatly appriciated so that the 77 will be ready for hot springs.

Michael, this is a good one I have replaced many motors but never without rolling them all the way up. But I belive you may only have to remove the top stops on the rails. Then the tricky part would be to remove the short lower rail assembly on the door (the roller chanel for the lower roller). This should alow you to slide and release one of the rollers on the window. See then if you can slide the window upto the top and unbolt the window rail. I really don't know if it will work but give it a try. If your 77 assembly is the same as my 75. A AIM (GM factory assembly manual) will give you a break down on how its assembled. Some of these other guys in the registry may have a better idea. Hope this helps let me know, Thanks.

thanks Guy, got it fixed last night, was able to remove the window easily and was luckey enough to have the holes in the regulator close enough to put somthing in it to lock it in place. Amazingly, had no problims aligning the window at all even though we forgot to mark where the alignment was prior to removing everything.
