The mechanic who replaced the power antenna on my '78 did a really poor job on the installation. He connected the power lead wire right to the battery! I'm sure Chevy didn't plan it that way. Does anyone know where to properly connect the antenna power lead to???? I'm assuming there has got to be a wiring harness near the antenna with a connector waiting to be used!

There's an antenna relay attached to the rear center console reinforcement. It's energized when the ignition switch is either on or on accessory, and the radio is on, and raises the antenna. When the switch or radio is turned off, it's de-energized and lowers the antenna. It's fused through the "CLK LTR CTSY" fuse in the fuse block.
There should be three wires from the relay to the antenna motor (there's more wires than that in and out of the relay, but only three to the antenna motor). There's a dark green wire for power to the motor, a white wire for the closing circuit, and a gray wire for the opening circuit.
This is how your car should be wired with the factory radio and power antenna. Aftermarket radios I believe may be different with a dedicated hot lead to a power antenna.
Hope this helps.
