Vette(s): 1978 (25th Annv. Edition)Red, Black interior, 4-Speed Transmission, L-82, Power & Air, Very Rare Option Package(Only 145 Red 1978s with a 4 speed trans) & Very Original Car, with original Window Sticker, Bill of Sale and all documentaion.
My 78 vette seat belt light will not go out even after the belt is connected. The odd thing about it is, the belt buzzer works and goes off after the seat belt is connected.

Anybody have any ideas what the problem is and what the fix is?

Thanks for your help,

I'm not sure if your buzzer unit would operate in the same way as mine (1980), but if so, that sounds like a problem inside the buzzer box itself. Unless the bulb wire is shorted to a live wire in the dash somehow (a bit unlikely, i'd have thought), then the fault can be isolated to the buzzer unit. Try disconnecting the box and see if the light goes out. If so, this suggests the buzzer circuitry is feeding power to the bulb when it shouldn't be.
If you open up the buzzer box on mine, theres a little heat switch that controls the light - perhaps yours is the same. Cant really say much more unless I knew exactly how your unit worked

Thank you very much for yor response. I will check the buzzer box and see if that will cure the problem.

Nice car! Mine is red too! Best color for any Vette! |cheers|

Thanks again!

Hehe, Yep they do say all corvettes should be red!
Glad to be of help, let me know if I can help out any more, I'm trying to fix mine at the moment, so it's kind of in my mind...
