As I am going back together with my motor for the 72 I was wondering what the thoughts were about 2 items I am considering trying. The first one is a High torque starter Starter info
The second one is the Alternator Chrome Alt Information
Has anyone bought anything from this company and if so what was the quality like. If I get my parts rebuilt I will have this much in them. So I was thinking maybe just upgrade if these were made with decent quality.
Your thoughts?
Thanks
Rodney

I would be a little wary of parts that cost less than a factory replacement but chromed or high performance..something isn't cooked right or these are straight out of the shipping container from China.

Might not hurt to try one to see what the quality is...you might have stumbled on something good. I have a mini high tirque starteer on mine and it works great. It is a Powermaster from Summit. I am also considering a chrome alternator also. Have priced one from Summit that I like but is twice the price of the one you found. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRO-141-656/

Alright, I guess I wont take that chance so I took both the alt n starter to the electrical shop to have them rebuilt. He's going to replace the stater, rectifier and regulator so it puts out around 100 amps. Starter is already a high torque so he will check everything and replace anything questionable. Chrome didn't matter to me so it will be done in the natural casing.

Can't go wrong with that! I'm sure you'll be happy with the results!

Yeah, that chrome 3 wire alt. is very tempting. I kept the number. I've bought several bum alternators and starters from local suppliers (big name stores), new and rebuilt. Almost seems worth tossing the dice just to see what you get. I've bought a couple of Ebay mini starters and so far all is well, of course I don't get to drive 'em as often as I'd like. If and when I make the purchase, I'll certainly share my experience.

Buying alternators and starters is always a crap shoot, no matter WHERE they come from.....it's just one o them things. You might get 10 good ones in a row, and then 10 that ain't worth poop.
I changed out 5 alternators on a car in the parking lot of a parts house before I got one that actually worked. But....they ALL had Lifetime Warranties!

I just had a problem with my alternator. It was rebuilt in 2004. Last month it shorted out, causing my battery to drain from full to dead in two days.
It took the mechanic a full day of checking and testing everything before he narrowed it down to the alternator. He also found corrosion on the back side of my fuse panel.
I hate electrical problems. Worse than vacuum problems.
