Well...this just sux big time...

Gettin ready yesterday to take da Apple for it's annual State inspection. Get it uncovered, move all da crap out from around/under/on top of it. Check fluids, air in da tars, etc.
Move two other cars out da way, get in, fasten seat belt, mash clutch, turn key...NADA. Repeat last few steps, and again...nuttin..no crank/click/f-you...nuttin. The interior lights are on, tho.
Crawl back out, turn the quick connect on da batt to make sure it's connectin, but still no start.
Get one of the booster boxes and connect, and she fars rite up...Vrrooooom! OK, so the disconnect is probably corroded a bit...I'll take it off and clean it when we git back from inspection.

Get to 'spection place, and 'specter ain't there yet..."She ain't gonna be here till aboot 12pm"...it's 10am at the time
So, Mama & I head off to visit Micki & David, since they live close to where we was. Got to see the poop-on car and Otis back home. Otis am looking really nice now. Da poopon car has most all of the factory stuff back in place, and Micki says she runs SO mooch better now! Go figure, eh?
Anyway, comes time to leave, and da Apple won't start agin...hook da booster box up, and off we go. Get da sticker, get home, and then go eat, and run around for a while.
Today, I get out there to remove the quick connect, and now the poop has reeeeeeely hit da fan. Take the vehicle cable off, no problem. Start to remove the bolt for the disconnect from the batt, and....the whole dam thing falls off. Bolt, disconnect, and half of the friggin batt. terminal.

S.O.B...that's the second $300, correct dated, reproduction battery I've bought for this turd. The first one crapped out after aboot two years, but that was mostly my fault for not keeping a charge on it.
This one, I bought in 2000, and bought a Battery Tender at the same time. This battery still has a charge, and didn't fail, electrically...the terminal just snapped off. Still makes it un-usable.
So...I give up....we went and bought a "regular" batt. for it today...only $100 for this one!

If anyone has any secwet twicks on how I might be able to "repair" this batt, I'm all ears...I'd still like to be able to use it for judging purposes.

Might want to check with a place that rebuilds them. I'm sure they see this problem often. Good luck DB

Corvettes and women are the same...You want to make love to them but they keep breaking down.

Welcome to the world of side post batteries... AC Delco has had a problem like this for many many years... i cannot even count the number of "original" AC Delco batteries we have gotten in the 9 years i've been working for Interstate Batteries that have had a pulled out terminal.  Because of the way the terminal is "welded" with dis-similar metals, often lead and stainless steel(the fastner or nut in this case in which the battery cable threads into) is often the fault of failure...   now, if your battery is not leaking around the 'dismembered' post, you just might be able to 'weld' it back... but, dont ask me on how.  We have re-casted top post batteries, but never  a side post... might be able to pour a little molten lead and set the terminal back in(with a bolt in it to keep the threads preserved), but no guarantee though. After all, you are dealing with a GM engineering product ;)
