hey Bro, I am gonna call a buddy of mine who owns an Industrial Battery Business in Indy Tuesday and see what I can find out about gettin ya repaired. So I will let ya know.

On the other hand why don't ya run a nice Intrastate battery in the car everyday and swap it out for an OEM on judgement days? sure would be better than "blowin" $300.00.....

Was going to suggest the same thing that Mr Tux just did... use a 'regular' battery for everyday stuff, and keep the repro battery for judging events...you can get a pair of side post adapters for charging purposes, i would not recommend using a bolt in the post threads for charging, as steel has a higher resistance than lead unabling the battery to get a good charging current. Side post batteries do take their fair share of abuse, and given that the posts are on the sides, there is a matter of vibration combined with torque from the cables that to tend to weaken the posts if(i know, big IF) the casting process for the posts are not absolutely perfect.  Better yet, get a top post battery and some adapters! HA!... sorry, had to be said... as i am not a big fan of sideposts..and yet, that is probably one of our more common battery sales at my workplace(not from broken posts though)...I did ask my boss if he ever attempted to "re-attach" a side post terminal, lets just say, i got a crazy look.... Also, asked about the repro battery, manager at work asked me if that one was from New Castle, if so, they went out of business about a year/year and half ago or so...no doubt though, someone out there still makes repro's....

Yeah, just superglue the post to the old Delco battery for NCRS judging shows only.  Have your Interstate battery on hand after the show so she will start and ya all can get home...........problem solved. LOLLOLLOL  We kinda wondered if you all were having problems when ya left Saturday.  We went real slow to see if you pulled out into the street & saw that ya all did..........whew!! phew

I had problems with the AC Delco too - it only lasted 4 years and ca-put! AngryCensored  I went out and bought a better one and wa-la, no more problems!

Yep, Joel... my

Jim, these came from "Antique Auto Battery" in Ohio...
Imma wonderin iffin I can swap the "guts" outta the one that still holds a charge inta the old one that won't...

I'm probably not going to have the car judged anymore, at least not until it gets painted(again), but I just hate to loose the $$$ on the batt. by just junkin it...

WHEW,,,, swapping guts isnt as easy as it sounds... as the inner cell connectors are usually through the cell wall... otherwise, the piece of lead that connects all the negative plates, and all the positive plates go through the plastic walls inside the battery. They heat them up till they melt through the plastic wall, and then melt to each other(the lead piece)...unless your battery has over-cell connectors, like the old-old batteries that you could see the bars on top of the battery.  Sure hope you can find some way of getting the post back on... good luck. :)
