Into another winter project in the shop on my 69 small block coupe. The water temp gauge hasn't worked since I bought the car, so  I sent off for Ecklers replacement gauge and sending unit. Was surprised when I found very little detail with the gauge other than "carefully note the terminal wiring on the old gauge you're replacing". When I took the gauge cluster out, the connector was off and only one nut was holding the gauge on. Looks like someone tried to fix it before and quit before the job was done.

I called Ecklers to get more technical detail and they were no help. The wiring diagram doesn't provide enough detail on where the insulator goes and which direction the connector should go.

Does anyone have experience with a 69 temp gauge and which of the four gauge posts connect to the 3 wires?

Ken,

On my '68, the wires were connected (from top to bottom) Green, Black, Pink.

If you're looking @ the back of the gauge, the post on the far right is not used.

The OOO-SO-EZ wiring from Doc Rebuild are the best wiring diagrams you'll find out there.
