I have got the dash all apart, all the wiring removed and the new dash harness all labeled and ready to go back in.
Looks really good without the tangled up wire spaghetti mess, but can't live without it.
My question is that I have got a condenser or filter behind the console attached to the plate that attaches the clock to the console. Not sure of what it does, maybe a static preventer for the radio?? and the wire leads will go to the battery gauge. The amp battery gauge has two connections. I think this lead went to the black and white wire hot side. However on the amp gauge I think they are both hot.
I have since replaced the amp gauge with a volt gauge with a hot and a ground.
Amp gauges are a PIA
Where would the wire from the condenser or filter now go to the volt gauge.
I don't want to have any shorts once I reconnect the new harness.

If you have swapped to a voltage gauge in place of the amp gauge, leave the capacitor disconnected. The main purpose for those things all over the car is for RFI. An amp gauge creates "noise", where a volt meter will not.

The capacitors also act as cushions, or "buffers" for electrical signals. On a gauge, they keep the needle from bouncing all the time as the signal changes. An amp gauge fluctuates a lot, where a volt meter is fairly steady. Thumbs Up
