The previous owner apparently removed back up light switch from transmission (4 sp) and installed switch under dash to turn the lights on. I have installed a new orifginal style switch back onto the tranny and I was wondering where the wires from the the b/u switch ran into the interior to make their connection.I did find a 2 wire plug hanging down from the firewall that was not connected to anything. Could this plug by any chance be the b/u light hookup point?

I am having a similar problem in that my reverse lights don't work on my 4 speed either. I don't know where to look for the switch on the transmission though, where is it hiding?
On my 74 the swirtch is located on the left side of the trans by the shift arms. A small piece of linkage goes from the reverse arm to the switch.

Dangit Bob!!! I wuz gonna post a link to my pic, but I see you done stole it!

The back-up light switch should have a short harness made onto it, which would run up along side the top of the trans, to a plug hanging from the firewall. Looks like the plug in your post above.
If yer lamps don't werk at all, and you know the switch is there, connected/adjusted properly, start by checking fuses. Then check for power on one of the wires at the switch.
