In my other recent post "Good News and Bad News" I am talking about troubleshooting my current leakage problem.  While doing so, I discovered that the battery end terminal of my positive cable is bad - intermittent connectivity issues.  I was shocked when looking in the typical vendor catalogs to see that the positive cable is at least $70.  Yikes!  But I just looked on Amazon and found a Delco for $30 that says it will fit (seems long enough).  I could even get a new negative Delco for another $20, making the total for both less than for just the positive from the catalogs.  Any ideas about the discrepancy?  Any reason not to go with the Delco?  (The Delcos are obviously not original style since they both have extra pigtails at the battery ends.  In my book that's a good thing as it means I could permanently install a connector for my trickle charger.)

No reason at all not to use aftermarket.  As a matter of fact the pigtail comes in handy.  It powers my amplifier and Vintage A/C blower.  Just take the old one out and measure it to make sure you buy correctly.  The old ones are a pain to remove, as they are routed down the transmission tunnel, and you'll be lucky to remove the nuts from the bracket studs without snapping the old, corroded studs.

Are you still using a side post battery?  This is a good opportunity to convert to top post, if your other troubleshooting finds that the battery is toast.

Still using side post - in fact, just bought a new one from Costco.  What are the advantages of going with top post?  Is it just easier to access or is there something else?  Seems like I get less corrosion on the side post than my other cars with top posts.
