I just got my corvette back from the mechanic, from where i had a engine fire... the engine work turned out great,Big smile but the brake lights do not work.  tried replacing the bulbs to no avail,Cry the 4-way flashers work only on the driver side rear(all front works), turn signal doesn't work on the driver side rear,, turn signal on passenger side works, 4-way flasher doen't work on the passenger side rear, but the  tailights work, could it be the turn signal switch, that is causing all my problems, any help would be appreciated.Confused  my corvette is a 71 coupe, and want to drive it soonBig smile, as the weather is changing for the better, here in So. Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!

The turn signals, brake lights, and 4 way flashers on the rear of the car are all the same bulbs and wires.

A yellow wire supplies the left side, a green on supplies the right side.

The brake light feeds the turn signal switch.  The 4 way feeds the turn signal switch, and turn signal flasher power feeds the turn signal switch.

From there, the switch splits up the circuits.  The brake lights are the default position in the switch.  When the turn signal is turned on, the brake light feed is disconnected and the turn signal flasher is connected to both front and rear lights on that side.  The 4 way overrides everything.

Your passenger side works t/s works, so the bulb and wire is good there.  The driver side 4 way works, so the wire and bulb is good there.  This means you do in fact have a problem with the Turn signal switch.  Check the wire connections at the base of the column where the switch connects.  If all is good, it sound like you have a bad switch.  I would be cautious about crossed or shorted wires due to the fire.  Crossed, shorted wires can do some weird things.

I would get a helper watch the brake lights while you hold the pedal down with one hand. Reach up with the other hand and operate the brake light switch with your other hand and see if the lights work this way. This would show you if the light switch is bad. To do this you must be a contortionist though. It causes me pain to work under the dash very much.
