in early 2004 my dash light for the parking wouldn't go off, never got around to fixnit. recently replaced all the dash lights and the light is on again. parking brake switch doesn't seem to effect the light one way or the other; but if i remove the wire from the break pressure switch (ignition switch on) the light is off and will not come on. with the wire off the break pressure switch shouldn't the parking break switch control the light?

PS just received an email fom FEDEX stating my new driveshaft left Knoxville at 4:15 PM today, sure wold like to get the dash together before the driveshaft arrives.

There are two things that make the pressure switch ground.

One, it's failed, shorted, stuck, etc.  This requires replacing the switch.

Two, the pressure is uneven in the brake system.  Try bleeding the brakes, even if the pedal seems good.  It could be eiither the front or the rear of car causing the problem.

If the switch is stuck, you can use more than normal pressure on the brake pedal, and slowly open a bleeder screw.  Watch the light.  If it goes out shut the bleeder.  If this fails after a few tries, go to the other end of the car and try the same thing.  The greater pressure on one side of the valve/switch can force it to recenter and shut the light off.
