I wanted to see how difficult it would be to add power door lock and or power windows to a 78 that currently has neither. If so what kind of parts might I be looking for? I am capable of doing the wireing myself but would like a bit of direction since I lack expertise in this situation. I am a new owner and do not have a lot of experience.
Any help would be appreciated.

It basicly amounts to changine hardware, and running the wires. You will require the physical mechanical parts for the locks and window regulators. Then there are the switches, which while a pain, can be installed. You will need to cut holes for these. Then run the wires and you are good to go. It's a fair amount of work, but very doable.

I would like the features of power windows and locks. I intend to keep the car for a long time. So I am looking for projects that I can do over the winter months. Since there are many of those months up here. Thanks for the info. williammoore2 2008-06-21 17:22:55
