I AM DOING A BODY OFF REBUILD OF MY 73 BB CONVERTIBLE. IAM UP DATING CREATURE COMFORTS AND WOULD LIKE TO ADD CRUISE CONTROL AND TILT/TELE STEERING WHEEL. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO SWITCH 78-79 COLUMN WITH CRUISE AND FULL CRUISE APPARATUS TO MY 73. WILL IY WORK WITHOUT ROCKET SURGERY OR BRAIN SCIENCE?

As far as I know the steering column it self shouldn't be a problem.the cruise control might be another story.You will have to install all the parts that go with it,transducer in the speedo cable,vacuum asembly for the carb.,brake switch to shut it off,other misc. parts that I can't even think of at the moment. you could go with an after market cruise control,which would be easier to install or get it professionally installed,probably cheaper.good luck with it let me know how you make out ,lets see some pictures of that big block when its done and in Ron 78

I think an aftermarket cruise control would be the best, most cost effective and grief-free way to go. Most good aftermarket units are pretty simple to install and trouble shoot. To try and install a factory unit, in my humble opinion, would be a nightmare...first to obtain all the proper parts (more than you might think), plus to install them all. That requires disassembling the steering column for the new turn signal stalk and wiring harness, underhood brackets, the new speedometer cables, transducer, vacuum lines and servo, the vacuum release valve, etc. You could easily make for more problems without knowing it.
Save yourself a lot of problems...get your JC Whitney catalog and order a good aftermarket unit. You'll install it in one afternoon and be ready to run.
