My 76 has no dash lights. I changed the fuses but they still don't work. Do I have to remove the dash panel to fix them? I installed a new light switch when I changed the dash cap. My center instrument cluster and console does not light up either. Any help would be appreciated.

I was traveling home one night and hit a bump and my dash lights went out. Replacing the fuse didn't work, I kept blowing the fuse. I was really scared of what the problem was. You have to really have patience to go into the dash, and time, and can't drive the car until you finish. I took the Passenger side off and undid the screws for the center cluster. You can pull it back and see some of the wires that are behind. One of the bulbs and connector had popped out and must have been shorting out on another positive terminal. When I plugged back in the problem was solved, much easier than I expected.
Good luck. Look under the dash and see if the fuse blows immediatly after you put in while the ignition is on and the lights are on. If it blows right away you need to find the short.
