Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.

Larry, I am impressed. I never knew all those codes about radios.
Nice! Thanks
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Picked up a good working am/fm delco radio, did not have the sticker on it,but does light up to the light green light, that will work for 68-71 years. My question is, I have a after market corvette radio with rear speakers, when I install the delco can I still run my rear speakers or just run the front.
I heard the delcos should only run on 8-10 ohm speakers, the rear speakers are small. JC VETTE 70 2009-03-13 19:49:56

Jimmy, you should be able to connect the rear speakers. I would recommend that you do a trial hook up with everything before you finialize everything. If you have any problems you can always add a booster amplifier. Good luck and let us know how things work out.

Looking at to see whats involved in installing the original delco back in the car, noticed the front speakers are 4 ohms and the rear are 4 ohms. On the delco, it says to install on 8-10 ohm speakers
Do i need to replace the speakers, to get the aftermarket radio out and to install the delco, what needs to be removed, Im sure you guys have done this before

did your radio come with the heat sink, got to have it, if it is a stereo model you got to have the multiplex assembly and heat sink, early c-3's radios only came with two speakers, top of the dash or kicker panel, its nice to have a stock radio but these radio's aren't very powerful, can't hear them very well, these car's are noisey going down the road especialey with headers and flows, the radio only has two plug ins for the speakers, you might add an amp, lft. and rgt. speakers IN to amp, four speakers out, front lft. and rgt. speakers to top of dash, rear lft. and rgt. speakers to kick panels or wherever your rears are located, adjust volumn between both sets of speakers with the fader adjustment, with the amp you might not be limited to 8-10 ohm speakers, I put my rears in the kicks, rear speaker enclosures doesn't leave room for tops or whatever.....................HOLD ON, I made a mistake, I just remembered that the stock delco radio doesn't have a rear fader just a left and right adjustment, no problem, lets start over, left & right speakers OUT of radio to IN amp left & right speaker,.... OUT of amp left front & rear speakers to top of dash,...... OUT of amp right front & rear speakers TO kick pad or wherever your rears are located, now you can fade your top to bottom or front to back set of speakers with your left to right adjustment on the radio. Man, this can be complicated, I'am doing this from memory, I don't have a set of amp instructions before me, Iam 90% sure this is right, please forgive me if I'am not, anyone else?anips 2009-03-21 13:07:46

Thanks for the info Joe!
I'm thinking basically i need to run the speakers in series to get 8 ohms. I realize that putting the stock delco back in I wont get same quality of sound as the aftermarket, cant i add a small amplifier to this delco to give me decent sound, would I still need the heat sink if I add a amp. What do I need to remove to get the radio out, anyone come across this situation.
