The lock switch for the driver's door should have five wires attached to it:
orange = hot
black = ground - should run from driver's switch to passenger's switch
light blue = power to passenger's switch from driver's switch
tan = power to lock motors
gray = power to lock motors
Hope this helps.

Thanks Jhon,
But where goes which color ?? I got 5 entries in the 'socket' where the doorlock switch connects to the wiring.Actually some wires came lose while I was working on the locks and I forgot the right way to connect them back.

The tan and gray are run "side-by-side", the black and light blue run "side-by-side", the orange runs alone. Do you have spade terminals, round pins or another type of connection on the switch itself?

Hi John,
Hope you can help me out here. I'm working on the connections for more than a year now and can't figure out which color wire connects to where. The left and right are different as mentioned in the shop manual.
For the connections are factory standard, round pins on the switch side and round holes on the doorharness side.
Switches lookes like this:_______X__X_____(X = pin)
(pin setup when looked at)__X__X__X
Hope you can tell me more on this

Hey Theo,
I think John has you straightened out on this problem. If you guys can't get it I happen to have the door panels off my '82 right now,but I am not at home at this moment.Let me know if you need me to look.

Would be great if you had a look. I know all the wires which are which as Jhon explained but I'm missing the right place of the wire connections in the (sealed) connector at the end (that's where the doorswitches are placed into). I know it's easier to order a replacement wiring at Eckler's but I want the original setup to work.

Theo,
I Will have a look tonight and post again later on or tomorrow.

O.K. Theo,
Here's how the wires go.Turning the switch around and looking directly at the back with the proper up and down orientation,I see three wires on the left side,Black at the top,the next wire down is tough to tell the color but could be a discolored white, very light grey,or even tan,and the bottom one is blue.On the right side are the remaining two wires with orange on top and grey on the bottom,so if you started with the black wire on top left and went counterclockwise it would be black, white?,blue, grey, and orange.Hope you can work it out.

Thanks Jules,
That's the information I'm looking for. It took me almost a year to figure this out.
I'll try it out later this week and let you know.
