I purchased the quartz clock conversion. Getting the old piece out required taking the instrument guage panel out, removing the clock.
The instructions with the conversion piece are good, but you have to rely on common sense. Following the diagram helps.
Re-assembly only takes replacing proper gears, (they give you two sets for different years).
Hook up to a 12V battery to ensure that it works. All works fine, and it only took an hour.

Thanks for the tip, Boatman. I've been considering the quartz option. Looking for feedback. Anybody else out there done this?
No big hurry. As long as I'm behind the wheel I really don't CARE what time it is.
(Can't say the same for the grocery-getter.)

The quartz conversion is the way to go if "NCRS" correct is not important. I converted mine, it was a breeze. The only way you know it's been converted is by the constant and steady movement of the second hand. The original clocks pulsed the second hand in one second intervals.

Interesting tip, Big Fish. I wouldn't have even imagined that one. Thanks.

I have taken my clock out a couple times and have been able to get my original clock to work, but it's only shortlived. I think I will take the plunge and swap it out finally. Thanks for the heads up.
