While having the engine out of the vette, should i replace the front wiring harness? I saw that ecklers had the front section. has anyone used there wiring before and also is it a total factory replacement? I think it would help it look alot cleaner since i am replacing the vacuum hoses as well. Does it just unplug at a main connection or is it more complicated then that? I am looking to clean the compartment up while everything is out. Thanks.

I got my wiring from M&H Electric www.wiringharness.com and yes the engine compartment was easy to do. I would unplug something and then plug the new one in starting from the firewall and working my way forward. The inter wiring was a whole different animal.

Chances are the Eckler's harness will be coming from 'Lectric Limited...might check them out and see if the price is different.
If ya have the engine out, replacing the front harness is much easier. Just do one plug/connector at a time, and run the harness the same way as it is now. Should be fairly easy.

I replaced all my harnesses with new ones from Lectric Limited, I also think thats where they all come from. They are nice to deal with and there stuff is very good. The engine compartment will be a breeze with the engine out. One thing to be careful of is your connection through the fire wall. There is a bolt that connects the 1/2 in the engine compartment with the other 1/2 which is the fuse box on the inside. Make sure that this goes together nice and snug and clean. It's going to have a bunch of tar like stuff on it and it's real messy. Like joel say's go slow and do one connection at a time. If you buy this from Lectric Limited it will come with a nice diagram.
Sorry....yes the bolt on my 72 is in the middle of the fuse box. Take this bolt out...you'll probably have to use a screwdriver or something to pry this apart on the engine compartment side...and it comes right off.
I purchased all of my wiring from Lectric Limited. Very high build quality and a complete plug in compatibility.
