Hello,
Can any one help me with my stereo problem. I took it to a stereo shop and it still is messed up. I put in a custom autosound 100w stereo system, 6 disc changer, 6x9 polk in rear, 4x6 polk in front dash, I alos put a 800w Volfenhag power amph it has 200w x 4 = 800w. My son and I hooked it up. I just put in a new MSD billet dist, 6al box, blaster coil. It is a lot louder whine now. Is there some type of filter or condenser I can put in line to it. I just bought a 135 amp alternator to install but am waiting. Any help would be greately appreciated. The people here are GREAT !! Thanks again for letting me vent !!! Actually there is one you can buy from Summit that cuts out the whine. When I find it in the catalog, I'll post it for you |biggrin|

|headscratch| Ace, what kind of spark plugs did you put in?
If they are not resistor plugs, they can put a pretty loud whine in your speakers.

I bought a setup from them pretty much exactly like yours. And had the same noise problem. The radio itself turned out to be bad. They have a built in filter that was no good. Had to actually buy a new radio from them, take out the old one and send it back before they would credit my account. Not to get on a band wagon but their 100 watt unit barely puts out enough to be heard over my exhaust at idle let alone at highway speeds. There is another posting about these radios. One of the members from Colorado has his for sale for $75.00 cause he likes it so much. My offering on this is " if you can still return it, send it back and buy a unit from Vette Specialties ". They sell a modified dash bezel that will accomodate most aftermarket head units ( I think they sell units already mounted ). Check out thier web site. I met the owner / operator at Carlisle. He is a nice guy and will work with you to get some good sounds playing in your Vette.

Alex,
Did you ever get the amp mounted in the '68 convertible? One of the C3 of the week cars looked like they had an amp mounted under the passenger seat. I sent him a post but he never e-mailed me back.

Got the same radio racket here using the msd . It not only makes my car radio sing ,it also makes my shop stereo do the same thing . Unfortunately I can,t fit the original ignition sheilding into place any more !

I have the same problem. I found a filter (condensor) at autozone. They had two types, made by the same company. One was 10 bucks and the other was 12. It is put inline to the 12V postive running to stereo. Pretty straight forward installation.
