With the upper dash removed you can see what looks like a flasher, except this has three spades and a brown wire coming from it and diving deep down into a harness.Ecklers corvette doesn't know what it is.It sits on top of the tach. There is also a flasher on pass. side, behind what would be the glovebox area, and a third in the fuse panel down under,by drivers foot.Anyone know about this flasher with wire?

The one on the pass side is either the turn sig flasher, or the hazzard flasher...can't remember which. The one in the fuse box would be for the other.
Don't know why there would be something like that behind the tach area...unless it is a remnant of an aftermarket set-up, but I doubt it would look like you describe if it was.
Can you get a pic?
With only one wire going to it, it's pretty much useless, unless it's some sort of capacitor..Adams' Apple 2008-12-16 13:01:03

No aftermarket on this one Joel,it's factory! Plugs into a harness, and is shown in the Assembly Manual. However, they don't say what it's for. In some older Eckler catalogues they show a replacement "Tach Filter".This thing has a "Philips" ser.# that 3 stores in this hicktown of Orlando can't even cross reference.I do know about the other flashers you mention, but this thing has me.I don't want to put this 30 year old part back in and button up the dash, theres no way to get at it later w/out a bunch of work. The car is too far disasembled to check any electrics.I sure wish I could post a photo.
According to my electrical troubleshooting manual for a 77 the Directional flasher is behind map pocket, Hazzard flasher is at the fuse panel, anti theft flasher center counsole just aft of ashtray, radio noise filter attached to directional flasher, one at brake light sw (near brake pedal) and one at the blower motor terminal. could not see anything that should be by tach. rraider1 2008-12-16 13:35:02

Can you make a copy of the assy manual page, and e-mail it to me?
If it shows in the assy man., then it has to have a part # assigned to it...I can look in the parts manual to see what it am...
Tach filters are normally in the engine compartment harness, but that don't mean nuttin...
